JOB SUMMARY:

QA Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing and building system verification test as well as maintaining existing test infrastructure. Candidate will work with small to medium size development team, and will be responsible for participating in all stages of the full software development lifecycle.

TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist QA Director to establish processes that complement the tools and provides end-to-end traceability
  • Develop & run FVT (Functional Verification Test)/SVT (System Verification Test)/Integration Test/Regression Test
  • Generate suitable test data that validate the critical requirements and business rules of the application under test to expose regressive defects.
  • Performs complex work flow analysis and recommends quality improvements.
  • Run analysis of various client data set, track/identify variables that may perturb system run.
  • Translate quality metric data into information
  • Participate in the design spec reviews to understand design, contribute quality requirements and ensure testability
  • Full ownership of CVS build process and QA release
  • Communicate with cross functional program teams as part of a shared responsibility for total product quality
  • Create detailed test execution reports and analyze, interpret and summarize the data into higher level reports and charts
  • Assist development team in researching or solving complex application issues
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple tasks.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle (requirements phase through delivery).
  • Work with development team to understand new product features for the purpose of designing and developing test cases
  • Collaborate with Development to effectively analyze and isolate complex system level problems
  • Review product documentation (manuals/Getting Started Guides) for technical accuracy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5-7 years as a QA Engineer with a distinguished track record on highly technical projects 2+ years of experience in QA System Engineer/Sr.QA Engineer capacity
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • MUST be highly proficient in a Unix/Linux environment.
  • MUST be highly proficient in Shell scripting
  • MUST have solid understanding of database testing/concepts & strong skills using SQL.
  • MUST possess strong overall understanding of how databases work with applications
  • Experience with CVS, solid understanding of build process, tag updates & produce QA build release
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, technical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong background/experience in QA methodology full life cycle testing, understand IEEE standards
  • Must be very driven and motivated to learn on own
  • Outstanding attention to detail & a team player.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to accurately identify real world software use cases (is a plus)
  • Expert troubleshooting and reasoning skills
  • Passionate about finding defects and helping to resolve them
  • Comfortable communicating cross-functionally and across management levels in formal and informal settings

Considered a strong plus if the candidate is familiar with:

  • System administration and tuning (e.g. Database, Linux, Windows)
  • Strong DataWarehouse testing experience
  • Scripting experience with Lua

Position Overview:
The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer will join a dynamic and talented Quality Assurance team to support Covario’s core Interactive Marketing Analytics applications. This position will be an integral part of the engineering team and requires someone who can focus on both manual and automated testing of client/server with strong emphasis on browser-based applications and proven ability setting up test harness, automation framework, developing and managing automated test scripts using QTP (HP QuickTest Professional). Responsible for preparing and executing risk based test strategies within an agile environment and contributing to the continuous improvement of the QA process.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle (requirements derivation through delivery).
  • Develop test plan and test strategy, manual and automated test cases meeting functional requirements, user stories and user acceptance criteria.
  • Perform hands on manual and automated testing (both “black” and “grey” box).
  • Lead the test automation effort. Create automated test suite using HP QTP, generate test scripts, tools and test harness to support QA automation.
  • Execute application, usability, functional, regression and performance testing for business applications in a client/server environment.
  • Evaluate testing results and enter problem reports in a problem tracking system.
  • Communicate product readiness, level of quality, and results to Quality Assurance Director and the project team.
  • Identify QA and testing issues, and generate solutions for process improvement.
  • Participate in release planing and product roll out.
  • Provide input and guidance to less experienced QA engineers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong experience in software Quality Assurance test plan and test case generation. Excellent testing skills and experience with commercial software development processes, SaaS or ASP (Application Service Provider) for browser-based applications, client/server application and database driven applications on Linux and Windows environments.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in software quality assurance industry with strong QA process knowledge and proven test automation skill.
  • Strong knowledge of automated testing tools such as QuickTest Professional, Rational Robot, XDE Tester, LoadRunner or any other automated testing tool.
  • Technical skills using SQL and RDBMS (MYSQL, MS SQL Server, or Oracle) technology.
  • Understanding of technical systems, including web technologies (server and browser), relational databases and application servers.
  • Good communication skill and a desire to function in a team based environment.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced dynamic environment.
  • BS degree in Computer Science or related fields or equivalent experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in developing and implementing tools, and scripting in Java, Perl, Python, Ruby, SQL, shell or any other programming language.
  • Implemented and managed test automation using QTP or alternatively open source test frameworks such as watir, fit, fitnesse, or selenium.
  • Experience using Servlet/JSP, Adobe Flex, MySQL, Tomcat, Apache or Linux
  • Exposure to SCRUM Agile development methodologies.
  • Formal test methodologies such as risk analysis, test coverage assessment, and QA metrics.

We are looking for a Test Automation Engineer to join our excellent team of quality professionals. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading test automation for DriveCam’s QA department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with test team to develop and implement test automation strategies using commercial tools, augmenting with code/scripts as needed.
  • Automate stable manual test cases/suites and contribute to the development of functional, system, performance, and load/stress test suites for automation of browser and client GUIs, API-level tests, and database interfaces.
  • Automate database testing confirming GUIs and APIs correctly display and manipulate data. Verify that schema and data updates maintain referential integrity.
  • Organize and maintain a library of tests and results tied to specific product versions and environments.
