You will optimize the SQL testing of a unique product that speeds database searches in a Unix /Linux environment to provide business intelligence. You will join 4 other Senior QA Software Engineers to address the formal whitebox / blackbox testing of their product as they prepare release of their 2.0 product this year.

  • You will test core functionalities through performance and regression testing in a Unix / Linux / Windows environment. Your main focus will testing database performance issues on Unix / Linux platforms.
  • Your challenge will be to write complex SQL queries  to ensure optimization of the database search algorithms.
  • You will do both blackbox and whitebox testing of C++ code for data input & extraction for large corporate data warehouses (Oracle, SQL Server, or DB2),
  • The company has a mature set of automated test tools that the team has created. This would be a great chance for someone who wants to gain experience with automated test tools regarding speed and database performance issues.

Job Requirements:
  • 5-7 years of software testing database issues for a product that runs in a Unix/Linux environment.
  • Experience with functional, performance, and regression testing for accuracy of database input and extraction from any of these relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgresSQL, DB2, Sybase, etc.)
  • SQL programming skills to write queries, do query optimization, examine schema design, stored procedures.
  • Knowledge of agile development process or SCRUM.
  • Experience with QA / test methodologies and test-case creation methods (equivalence partitioning/boundary-value analysis, etc.).
  • Experience with common source control tools.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Interest in working with a high-performance team and cutting edge technology.
  • Interest in learning to write scripts for automation in any of these languages (Python, Perl, TCL, or Shell scripts).
  • Plusses would be whitebox testing and ability to read C++ code to identify the source of a problem.

Reporting to the Director of Software Quality Assurance, the QA Manager will build and maintain a team that supports a wide range of software solutions used by financial advisors and other user communities. The QA Manager will shape, maintain, and enforce quality assurance standards in accordance to the Software Development Life Cycle.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Review and approve modifications to the test environments
  • Ensure cohesive integration of testing and development activities
  • Review and approve test plan development, including development of test goals, project milestones, objectives, and strategies

SPI Manager

The ideal candidate must be well versed in Carnegie Mellon's Software Engineering Institute's Capability Maturity Model Process Areas. In addition, the candidate will have participated and led companies in preparing for, and becoming certified via the CMMI SCAMPI A method.

This position will report to the Microsoft Solutions Framework Transition Coordinator, and will be responsible for preparing the Company for a CMMI Level 3 appraisal by the end of 2008. The candidate will be personally responsible for:

  1. Providing Overall CMMI Level 3 guidance and make recommendations to Executive Team
  2. Assist in developing and managing processes to obtain CMMI Level 3 certification
  3. Assemble the Appraisal Team and Coordinate all Appraisal activities with the CMMI Auditor
  4. Work closely with the Process and Product Quality Assurance (PPQA) Team Lead to validate auditing procedures
  5. Manage 3-4 Process Engineers to meet the Company's certification objectives
  • 2+ Years as a manager
  • 2+ Years experience with CMMI
  • Desired 8+ years total experience
  • CMMI Level 2 or Level 3 Experience
