Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 17th at 6:00PM. Please RSVP to news@ssq.org.
This topic deals with the discussion of the FAA guidance on civil software development for commercial aircraft — DO-178B/ED-12B SOFTWARE CONSIDERATIONS IN AIRBORNE SYSTEMS AND EQUIPMENT CERTIFICATION. Starting with the inception of DO-178 along with the history of change that lead to DO-178B and now the soon to be released DO-178C, this session provides a top level view of what it means to create software for airborne systems, the pit-falls and hurdles of FAA compliance and some light-hearted discussion on applicable systems and why avionics engineers desire to be “certifiable.”
David Cirulli is Engineering Vice-President and co-founder of CEMSol, a comprehensive, solutions-driven Engineering and Technical company. He has over twenty years experience in real-time engineering development, civil and military avionics systems, and FAA certifications.
David Cirulli is a former Systems and Software Engineer at Honeywell Commercial Aviation Division. Mr. Cirulli has more than fifteen years of experience in project management of both airborne and ground based systems for the commercial. His systems and software flys in the most popular Boeing and Airbus commercial airlines and he has participated in every major commercial aircraft development in the past two decades.
David has served as Director of Programs at ENEA TekSci where he completed the certification of electrical power distribution system for corporate jet market place and became a military avionics certification specialist using FAA DO-178B compliance. He is a professional trainer on the FAA standards for certification guidelines of both DO-178 software and DO-254 hardware. He has been involved with the FAA DER community over the past decade. As Programs Director at ENEA TekSci, he created the OSE design center, a selective product and services solution provider for the OSE operating system.
As Vice-President of CEMSol, he created a growing company that provides full service engineering solutions to the real-time software and systems market place. He specializes in compliance to high reliability and safety guidance standards for FAA, FDA and NRC systems. He successfully completed achieving airworthiness standards for the C-17 large scale transport aircraft into civil airspace, B-1Air Force aircraft flight safety critical flight deck development and roadmaps for civil compliance of unmanned vehicle systems. Most recently he began efforts to bring advanced diagnostics and prognosis for real time system health using NASA and JPL technology to the commercial market place.
